Case Study 1

As the credit crunch continues to steal the headlines and talk of the housing crisis remains, many of us are putting our lives on hold and waiting for ‘the right time to buy’. But are we doing the right thing, or are we missing out on some great deals and watching our lives slip by as we do it?

This was a question that Andrea and Karl Longworth struggled with; having outgrown their two bedroom home, the couple overcame their nerves and beat the housing market when they bought a brand new home at Countryside Properties’ ‘The Cottons’ in Chadderton.

Credit Crunch

When Andrea and Karl’s son Kian was born two years ago, their two bedroom house that was once perfect for the two of them became too small. Andrea comments: “When we first moved into our old home in Moston, we loved it, but then we had Kian and quickly realised we had outgrown it. The plan was to move to somewhere bigger this year, as Kian is growing by the day, as too are the amount of toys! But then all of a sudden everyone was talking about the credit crunch, the drop in house prices and the lack of lending. Some were saying it was a good time to take advantage of lower house prices, whilst others were warning not to buy.

“We wanted to buy a new build house, so that everything was ready when we moved in and we had heard about The Cottons, a new family development that was being built nearby. We knew as soon as we saw it that it was exactly what we were looking for and enquired into a three bedroom house.

“The sales girls, Rachel and Debbie were brilliant, helping us every step of the way and making the process a lot easier than it could have been. I think our initial apprehension is understandable given the current climate, but I’m confident we have made a good move financially and more importantly, we have moved forward with our lives as planned and Kian has lots of room to run about in and this is a house that we will be happy in for the long term.”

Perfect Location

Perfectly located just 6.2 miles south of Rochdale town and 7.5 miles north of Manchester city centre, The Cottons marks the area’s proud heritage which remembers the industrial revolution that once founded the town. Countryside Properties has paid particular attention to enhancing the natural environment with a winding foot and cycle path that borders the adjoining picturesque areas of green open space, providing comfort and quality that modern families need.
